Ancient Spice Cookies

I am obsessed with turmeric lately! Not only does turmeric exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, but it also may contain anticancer properties and aid in respiratory health. Read more about the health benefits of turmeric here.

With such big health claims, how could I not look for ways to incorporate this ancient spice more in my diet??

I am not a big fan of the “earthy” taste of turmeric, and so the baker in me looked for a way to add my daily dose into a personal favorite…cookies! I decided to take my favorite chai cookie recipe and give it a new twist by adding turmeric.

The color of the cookies changed to a deep golden, and I also replaced coconut flour with oat flour because I am loving all things oat lately! The final product is a soft cookie with a chewy texture and hints of cinnamon, turmeric, and almond. These cookies pair great with a warm cup of your favorite herbal tea.

Reap the benefits of turmeric while enjoying a sweet treat!
